Ariadne
We had the privilege of visiting one of the Orthodox Churches in Radauti, St Dumitriu, where we met the amazing Ariadne. Ariadne is the sister of the priest, Ciprian, and also a Geography teacher at one of the local High Schools.
She has also been running free after-school clubs for children of the town for the last 9 years.
We visited two in the same week, although they can only run when resources allow. There were 32 kids and 7 volunteers. The clubs are funded by donations from the St Dumitriu congregation and from Hannah, and are staffed by young volunteers from the church (including Cipi, who attended this church when he lived in Radauti). These volunteers also often help out at Hannah too.

Livia and Ariadne

This is the church with whom Hannah collaborated for the Christmas and Easter shoeboxes and parcels. It was good to meet Father Ciprian too, who I believe to be a very wise and compassionate man.

The clubs which Ariadne runs are arts-and-crafts. Hannah would like to set up an after-school club too, but of a different nature (see the After-School Club article). However they have been able to learn a lot about what works and what doesn’t from Ariadne and Ciprian.
